In March 2025, Sarn recorded 103 crimes across its population of 12,531 residents, translating to a crime rate of 8.2 per 1,000 individuals. This figure places the area 5.1% above the UK average of 7.8 per 1,000, a margin that, while modest, is statistically significant. The most prevalent crime types were violence and sexual offences (33 cases, 32.0% of total), followed by anti-social behaviour (18 cases, 17.5%) and public order issues (17 cases, 16.5%). These patterns align with the seasonal transition to spring, where lengthening evenings and clock changes may influence social interactions and public spaces. The dominance of violent crimes, despite being 5% below the UK average for this category, suggests localized factors such as community tensions or specific hotspots within the built-up area. Anti-social behaviour and public order offences, however, far exceed UK averages by 12% and 155% respectively, indicating a need for focused interventions in public spaces or areas with high foot traffic. The surge in shoplifting, which rose by 333.3% from February, may reflect the start of the retail season or increased opportunities in local stores. These findings highlight the combination of seasonal dynamics and local conditions, requiring a nuanced approach to crime prevention.
