May 2024 saw Euxton's crime rate remain at 3.8 per 1,000 residents, placing it 54.8% below the UK average of 8.4 per 1,000. This continued underperformance against national figures is most evident in categories like violence and sexual offences, which were 61% below the UK average, and criminal damage and arson, 68% below. Anti-social behaviour, however, stood out as the most common crime type, accounting for 46.6% of all incidents, though it remained 24% above the UK average for this category. The seasonal context of May—with its bank holidays, extended evenings, and increased outdoor socialising—likely contributed to the spike in public order offences, which tripled compared to April. This contrast between lower overall crime rates and specific category fluctuations highlights the combination of local factors and national trends. The built-up area's relatively low crime profile, despite its proximity to larger urban centres, may be partly explained by its suburban character and community-focused policing efforts. However, the recent increases in public order and weapon-related incidents suggest that targeted interventions may be necessary to address emerging patterns. These findings, while consistent with Euxton's historical trend of lower-than-average crime, underscore the need for ongoing monitoring of specific categories that show unexpected shifts.
