Violence and sexual offences accounted for over half of all reported crimes in Denbigh during December 2024, marking the dominant category driving the area's crime profile. At 7.3 crimes per 1,000 residents, the overall crime rate was 2.8% above the UK average, reflecting a persistent challenge in addressing violent incidents. This category's rate of 4.0 per 1,000 (54.4% of total crimes) was 56% higher than the UK average for the same category, suggesting local factors may contribute to this disparity. Anti-social behaviour followed closely with 19.3% of all crimes, also exceeding the UK average by 49%. The seasonal context of December—characterised by extended dark evenings, Christmas shopping activity, and potential increases in social gatherings—may partly explain the elevated levels of violent and anti-social incidents. While property crimes remained relatively low at 7 (1.4% of total), the data illustrates a clear focus on interpersonal crime over theft or property damage. The month's patterns are consistent with other built-up areas in Denbighshire where seasonal transitions and holiday-related dynamics often influence crime trends. This snapshot underscores the need for targeted interventions in addressing violent crime, particularly during periods of heightened social interaction and reduced visibility.
