September 2025 marked a continued upward trend in Denbighshire's overall crime rate, which stood at 8.7 per 1,000 residents — 17.6% above the UK average of 7.4. The area's crime profile remained heavily skewed towards violent and anti-social offences, which together accounted for 61.1% of all reported crimes. Violence and sexual offences (362 incidents) were the most prevalent category, with a rate of 3.7 per 1,000 — 43% above the UK average for this category. Anti-social behaviour (162 cases) and criminal damage (70 cases) followed closely, both exceeding UK averages by 45% and 32% respectively. This pattern aligns with Denbighshire's character as a mixed rural-urban district with significant commuter flows and a seasonal influx of students during the freshers' period. The month's climate, with shorter evenings and the return to school, may have contributed to increased social tensions and property damage. While property crimes (228 incidents) were lower than violent crimes, their share of the total (26.6%) still reflected the influence of local retail hubs and transport infrastructure. The data suggests a combination of seasonal transitions and persistent community-level challenges, with no single factor dominating the crime profile this month.
