Violence and sexual offences emerged as the dominant category in Kirk Sandall and Edenthorpe’s April 2024 crime profile, accounting for 34.9% of all reported incidents. With 29 cases recorded, this category not only outpaced other types but also slightly exceeded the UK average (2.6 per 1,000) by 2%, indicating a localized concentration of violent incidents. The area’s overall crime rate of 7.4 per 1,000 residents placed it 3.9% below the UK average (7.7 per 1,000), a modest but notable discrepancy that may reflect the built-up nature of the area and its integration into Doncaster’s broader urban framework. Anti-social behaviour followed closely with 13 cases (15.7% of total), while criminal damage and arson (11 cases, 13.3%) showed a stark 69% increase compared to the UK average, suggesting potential vulnerabilities in property maintenance or community engagement. Seasonal factors, particularly the Easter period and spring weather, likely contributed to these patterns, as increased outdoor activity and social gatherings may have heightened opportunities for both violent and property-related crimes. The balance between property and violent crimes was relatively even, with property crimes (29 cases) matching violent crimes (29 cases), a distribution that may reflect the area’s mix of residential and commercial spaces. However, the absence of significant spikes in theft from the person or shoplifting, which were 47% and 25% below the UK average respectively, hints at effective local deterrents or lower foot traffic in retail zones during the month.
