Anti-social behaviour emerged as the dominant category in West Moors during October 2024, accounting for 35% of all reported crimes. This category, with a rate of 1.3 per 1,000 residents, was just 1% above the UK average of 1.3 per 1,000, indicating a near-parity with national trends despite the area’s overall lower crime profile. The broader crime rate for the month stood at 3.8 per 1,000, a figure that is 53.1% below the UK average of 8.1 per 1,000, reflecting the area’s relatively safe environment. Violence and sexual offences, the second most common category, rose by 42.9% compared to the previous month, yet remained 66% below the UK average. Seasonal factors such as the clocks going back and the onset of darker evenings may have contributed to the increase in anti-social behaviour, as well as the timing of Halloween. The low rate of property crimes, including shoplifting (10%) and other theft (10%), further underscores the area’s distinct crime profile, which appears less influenced by retail or personal property-related offences compared to the national average.
