November 2025 saw a 9.6% increase in West End (Eastleigh)’s crime rate to 8.0 per 1,000 residents, placing it above the UK average of 7.3. This rise, though modest, reflects the area’s ongoing challenges with property crime, which accounted for 58% of all incidents, and violent crime, which made up 31%. The seasonal context of November—marked by Bonfire Night, Black Friday shopping, and shorter evenings—likely contributed to the elevated crime profile, particularly in retail and transportation hubs. Property crimes, including vehicle crime (27.2% of total incidents) and shoplifting (9.9%), remained high compared to the UK average. Vehicle crime, at 450% above the UK rate, may be linked to the area’s high traffic density and commercial activity, while shoplifting and criminal damage rates also exceeded national benchmarks. Conversely, violence and sexual offences fell by 26.5% compared to October, possibly due to reduced opportunities for such crimes during darker evenings. This mixed picture underscores the need for targeted strategies to address vehicle crime and retail-related offences, while building on the reduction in violent incidents.
