June 2024 marked a continuation of elevated crime levels in Hammersmith and Fulham, with an overall rate of 12.0 crimes per 1,000 residents—46.3% above the UK average. This urban district, characterised by a mix of residential areas, commercial hubs, and proximity to central London, experiences crime patterns influenced by its dense population and vibrant social life. The most common crimes were anti-social behaviour (24.9% of all reports), violence and sexual offences (21.6%), and other theft (10.4%). These figures align with the area's profile as a major urban centre with a high concentration of public spaces, retail outlets, and community interactions. The seasonal context of June—the start of summer—may contribute to increased anti-social behaviour, as longer evenings and warmer weather encourage more outdoor activity. However, the persistent gap between Hammersmith and Fulham's rate and the UK average suggests structural factors, such as socioeconomic disparities or policing challenges, may play a role. While the crime rate is slightly lower than May's 12.7 per 1,000, this small decline does not mitigate the overall concern. The high proportion of anti-social behaviour, which is 114% above the UK average, indicates a need for community-focused interventions. The relatively low rate of violent crime compared to other areas may reflect effective local policing or community engagement.6 per 1,000 rate for violence and sexual offences remains a concern. As the summer progresses, the interplay between increased tourism, extended daylight, and local demographics will likely shape future crime trends.
