Bletchley’s crime rate in April 2023 remained aligned with the UK average of 7.5 per 1,000 residents, but the distribution of crime types revealed notable trends. Violence and sexual offences dominated, accounting for 45.6% of all incidents, significantly higher than the UK average. This may be attributed to the area’s mix of residential and commercial spaces, where public interactions and potential conflicts are more frequent. Anti-social behaviour and criminal damage also featured prominently, with the former 41% below the UK average—a possible reflection of community-focused policing efforts or lower population density in certain areas. Seasonal factors, including the Easter holiday and spring weather, likely influenced activity levels, with increased outdoor engagement potentially contributing to both rises in anti-social behaviour and the sharp spike in robbery. However, the overall rate of violent crime (3.4 per 1,000) was 31% above the UK average, suggesting a need for targeted interventions. Meanwhile, vehicle crime fell 60% compared to March, due to fewer cars on the road during the Easter break. These patterns illustrate how local conditions—such as the timing of holidays and the built environment—interact with broader national trends to shape crime profiles.
