North Warwickshire recorded a crime rate of 7.2 per 1,000 residents in October 2024, placing it 11.1% below the UK average of 8.1. This performance, while not without its challenges, highlights a generally safer environment compared to national benchmarks. The top three crime types were violence and sexual offences (26.7% of all reports), vehicle crime (19.6%), and anti-social behaviour (19.4%), reflecting a mix of urban and rural dynamics. Violence and sexual offences, at 1.9 per 1,000, were 29% below the UK average, a disparity likely influenced by the area’s lower population density and community-focused policing efforts. Vehicle crime, however, stood out as significantly higher than the UK average (198% above), possibly due to the region’s road networks and commuter activity. The seasonal context of October—shorter days, Halloween, and the clocks going back—may have contributed to fluctuations in anti-social behaviour and public order offences. The area’s relatively low burglary and shoplifting rates (9% and 58% below the UK average, respectively) could be attributed to effective local initiatives or the absence of high-footfall retail hubs typical in larger cities. These patterns suggest a combination of geography, community characteristics, and seasonal rhythms, all of which shape the local crime profile.
