Violence and sexual offences dominated the crime profile in Pembroke Dock during March 2023, accounting for 47.1% of all reported crimes. With an overall crime rate of 15.8 per 1,000 residents, the area recorded a rate 107.9% above the UK average of 7.6 per 1,000, highlighting a significant divergence from national trends. This elevated level of violent crime is consistent with the area’s character as a coastal town with a mix of residential and tourist activity, where social interactions in public spaces may contribute to the high incidence of violence and disorderly incidents. Public order offences, which accounted for 14.4% of all crimes, also showed a marked disparity, with a rate 259% above the UK average. This suggests that disturbances and anti-social behaviour are particularly pronounced in Pembroke Dock, possibly linked to the town’s seasonal rhythms and the presence of transient populations. The seasonal context of March, with the transition to spring and the lengthening of evenings, may further amplify such activity, as more people spend time outdoors and in social settings. Additionally, shoplifting emerged as a notable concern, with 15 incidents recorded—227% above the UK average—indicating that retail areas may be particularly vulnerable to property-related crimes. These patterns collectively illustrate an area where violent and disorderly crimes are prevalent, requiring targeted attention to address the underlying factors that contribute to such a stark deviation from the national average.
