November 2023 saw Stanwell's crime rate remain elevated compared to the UK average, with a total of 107 crimes reported across the built-up area. At 9.5 crimes per 1,000 residents, the area's rate is 26.7% higher than the national average of 7.5 per 1,000, reflecting persistent challenges in community safety. The most common crimes were violence and sexual offences (30.8% of total), followed by anti-social behaviour (23.4%) and other theft (9.4%). These patterns align with the area's urban character and seasonal factors, such as the darker evenings of late autumn and the retail activity around Black Friday. While violence and sexual offences were 12% above the UK average, anti-social behaviour was higher, at 110% above the national rate. This may partly explain the sharp rise in public order offences, which saw a 46.7% month-on-month decline in November, possibly linked to the seasonal transition from late October's Halloween-related incidents. The data also highlights a significant discrepancy in property crime trends: shoplifting rates were 27% below the UK average, while burglary was 47% above. This contrast may reflect Stanwell's mix of residential and commercial areas, where retail premises could deter shoplifting but older housing stock may increase burglary risks. The seasonal context of November—marked by Bonfire Night and the start of the festive shopping period—likely influenced patterns of anti-social behaviour and public order offences, though the month-on-month decrease suggests some stabilisation in these areas.
