Violence and sexual offences dominated Churchdown's crime profile in April 2024, accounting for 44.6% of all reported crimes. This category, with 41 incidents at a rate of 2.8 per 1,000, was 9% above the UK average for the same category. Despite this, the overall crime rate of 6.3 per 1,000 remained 18.2% below the UK average of 7.7 per 1,000, reflecting a generally safer environment compared to national trends. Anti-social behaviour (17 cases) and public order offences (12 cases) followed as the second and third most common crime types, with the latter showing a striking 500% increase from March. The seasonal context of April—marked by Easter and spring weather—likely contributed to increased outdoor activity and public interactions, which may have influenced the rise in public order offences. Churchdown's built-up area within Tewkesbury, characterised by a mix of residential and commercial zones, may explain the focus on violent and public order crimes, which often occur in high-traffic areas. The relatively low rates of property crime, including shoplifting (5 cases) and burglary (3 cases), suggest that Churchdown's community may have effective local deterrents or lower opportunities for such crimes compared to other areas.
