Violence and sexual offences emerged as the dominant force in Rhosllannerchrugog's crime profile in February 2024, accounting for 41.6% of all reported crimes — the highest share of any category. With a total crime rate of 7.9 per 1,000 residents, the built-up area within Wrexham recorded a rate 11.3% above the UK average of 7.1 per 1,000. This elevated rate reflects a combination of local factors, including the area's urban character and the winter season's impact on social dynamics. The prominence of violence and sexual offences, which stood at 3.3 per 1,000 — 32% above the UK average for this category — may be partly explained by reduced outdoor activity during February, which could contribute to increased indoor gatherings and associated risks. Anti-social behaviour followed closely, at 1.3 per 1,000 (24% above the UK average), reinforcing the area's challenges with public disorder. Other theft and criminal damage also featured prominently, though their rates remained within the UK average range. Seasonal context suggests that February's low outdoor activity may have shifted criminal activity towards more confined spaces, exacerbating interpersonal conflicts. However, the pre-spring lull in February also saw notable decreases in shoplifting (down 75%) and criminal damage (down 42.9%), reflecting reduced foot traffic and fewer opportunities for petty crime in retail and public spaces.
