November 2025 marked a stark contrast in crime patterns for Droitwich Spa, a historic market town with a mix of residential and commercial areas. The overall crime rate of 4.7 per 1,000 residents placed the area 35.6% below the UK average, a consistent trend reflecting the town’s relatively low levels of violent and property crime. Violence and sexual offences accounted for 37% of all reported incidents, a figure slightly below the UK average of 2.6 per 1,000. This category’s rate of 1.7 per 1,000 may partly explain the area’s lower overall crime rate, given the focus on targeted policing in high-traffic zones. Shoplifting emerged as the second most common crime, contributing 20.2% of total incidents.9 per 1,000 was 43% above the UK average. This anomaly may be linked to the Black Friday shopping period, which typically sees a surge in retail crime. Anti-social behaviour, at 0.6 per 1,000, was 43% below the UK average, suggesting effective community engagement strategies in local neighbourhoods. The seasonal context of November—marked by Bonfire Night and prolonged darkness—likely influenced crime trends, with increased public order incidents mitigated by community vigilance. While the town’s low burglary rate (0.2 per 1,000) aligns with its suburban character, the sharp rise in vehicle crime later in the month will require closer scrutiny.
