Bewdley's December 2025 crime profile showed marked improvements, with an overall rate of 3.1 per 1,000 residents—55.7% below the UK average of 7.0 per 1,000. This performance, while consistent with the area's historically low crime profile, was particularly notable in violent crime categories. Violence and sexual offences accounted for 34.3% of all incidents, but this figure represented a significant 63.6% reduction from November, the largest single category decline. The area's low violence rate of 1.1 per 1,000, 57% below the UK average, may be attributed to seasonal factors such as the Christmas period, when extended evenings and community-focused events could deter criminal activity. Anti-social behaviour, the second most common category at 22.9%, also declined by 60% month-on-month, suggesting a possible correlation with reduced foot traffic during the holiday season. While property crime remained stable, burglary at 0.3 per 1,000 was 7% above the UK average, indicating that targeted interventions may be warranted in this category. The seasonal context of December—characterised by Christmas shopping, dark evenings, and empty homes during holidays—likely influenced these patterns, with the combination of reduced opportunities and increased community vigilance contributing to the overall downward trend in crime.
