Fleetwood’s crime rate in July 2025 stood at 14.2 per 1,000 residents, significantly higher than the UK average of 8.6 per 1,000—65.1% above. This marked deviation underscores the area’s unique challenges, with violence and sexual offences accounting for 34.4% of all crimes, followed by anti-social behaviour at 30.1% and criminal damage at 7.8%. These figures align with the area’s seasonal context, as July is a peak month for tourism, festivals, and outdoor events, which can exacerbate public order issues and strain local resources. The dominance of violent crime, which is 61% above the UK average, suggests a need for targeted interventions in high-risk areas, particularly during the summer months when foot traffic and social activity are at their highest. Anti-social behaviour, also 177% above the UK average, may be linked to the area’s compact built-up nature, where noise and disorder can spread more rapidly. Meanwhile, the relatively low rates of shoplifting and vehicle crime—54% and 74% below UK averages, respectively—indicate that existing measures in retail security and traffic management may be yielding results. However, the surge in public order offences, which rose by 150% compared to June, points to a growing challenge that local authorities must address as the summer season continues.
