Annke Audio Not Working? A Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide
While video is the primary function of a security camera, audio can provide crucial context, from hearing a conversation to identifying the sound of breaking glass. If you have discovered that your Annke security system is not recording or playing back audio, it can be a significant concern.
This guide is designed to help you systematically troubleshoot and resolve the most common reasons for Annke audio not working, getting your system's ears back online.
Is Your Annke Camera Audio-Capable?
Before you begin, it is essential to confirm that your specific Annke camera model has a built-in microphone or an input for an external one. Many basic security cameras, especially older models, are video-only. Check the product's specifications on the Annke website or your original purchase order. If the model does not support audio, none of the following steps will enable it.
Common Reasons for No Audio and How to Fix Them
Most audio issues are related to software settings rather than faulty hardware. Let's go through the checks in a logical order.
1. Unmute the Audio in the Annke Vision App
This is the most common reason for not hearing audio during live view. To save bandwidth and prevent audio feedback loops, mobile apps almost always default to muting the audio stream.
- How to Fix: Open the Annke Vision app and go to the live view for the camera in question. Look for a speaker icon. If it has a line through it, it is muted. Tap the icon to unmute it, and you should be able to hear the live audio.
2. Enable Audio Recording in the System Settings
For privacy reasons and to save storage space, audio recording is often disabled by default in the NVR or DVR settings. You need to enable it for sound to be saved with your video files.
-
How to Enable (via NVR/DVR Interface):
- Log in to your Annke NVR or DVR using a connected monitor.
- Navigate to Record > Parameters > Record.
- Select the camera channel you want to configure.
- You will see settings for the Main Stream and Sub-Stream. It is crucial to enable audio for the stream you are recording.
- Check the box for "Record Audio" or similar.
- Click "Apply" to save the changes.
-
How to Enable (via Web Interface):
- Log in to your NVR/DVR or camera's IP address from a web browser.
- Go to Configuration > Video & Audio > Video.
- Select the camera and ensure the Video Type is set to "Video&Audio".
- Next, go to Configuration > Storage > Schedule Settings > Record Schedule.
- Click on Advanced and make sure "Record Audio" is checked.
3. Check the Audio Source Settings
Your system needs to know where to get the audio from.
- How to Check: In the web interface or NVR settings, under the Video & Audio tab, there is usually an Audio sub-tab.
- Audio Input: Ensure the audio input is set correctly. If your camera has a built-in mic, it should be set to "MicIn" or an equivalent. If you are using an external microphone, ensure that is selected.
4. Troubleshooting Two-Way Audio
If you can hear audio from the camera but people cannot hear you speaking through the app (for cameras with a built-in speaker), check your phone's permissions.
- App Permissions: Go into your smartphone's settings, find the Annke Vision app, and ensure you have granted it permission to access your microphone.
5. Restart and Update
If you have checked all the settings and still have no audio, try the basics.
- Reboot: Restart your camera and your NVR/DVR. This can often resolve temporary glitches.
- Firmware Update: Check for and install any available firmware updates for both your cameras and your NVR/DVR. Updates can fix bugs that may be affecting audio processing.
By methodically working through these settings, you can solve the vast majority of audio-related problems on your Annke security system.
