How to Fix Annke Zone Settings That Are Not Working
Motion detection zones are a critical feature of your Annke security system. They allow you to define specific areas within your camera's view where you want to detect motion, while ignoring others. This is essential for reducing false alarms from things like swaying trees, passing cars, or pets in an area you don't need to monitor.
If you've configured motion zones but are still getting unwanted alerts, or no alerts at all, this guide will help you troubleshoot the problem with professional and clear advice.
Understanding How Motion Zones Work
Before fixing the problem, it's important to understand what's happening. The Annke camera or NVR software analyses the video feed for changes in pixels. When you draw a motion zone, you are telling the system: "Only pay attention to pixel changes that happen inside this box." If you are getting alerts from outside the box, or no alerts from inside it, there is a breakdown in that logic.
Common Problems with Annke Zone Settings and Their Solutions
Let's address the most likely reasons your motion zones are not behaving as expected.
Problem: Settings Don't Seem to Save After I Draw Them
You draw the perfect zones, leave the menu, and when you come back, they are gone or have reverted to the default full-screen setting.
- Failure to Save/Apply: This is the most common user error. On almost every interface (Annke Vision app, web interface, or NVR), after you draw or adjust your zones, you must click a "Save," "Apply," or "OK" button. If you simply press 'back' or exit the menu, your changes will be discarded. Always look for a confirmation button before leaving the screen.
- Permissions Issue: If you are logged into the system with a user account that doesn't have administrative privileges, you may be able to view settings but not save changes to them. Ensure you are logged in as an 'admin' user.
Problem: Still Receiving Motion Alerts from Outside the Zones
This is a very frustrating issue. You've carefully drawn a zone around your doorway, but you still get an alert every time a car drives by on the street.
- Motion Sensitivity is Too High: This is a huge factor. If your sensitivity is set to 'High', even small changes like shadows from a cloud moving across the lawn outside your zone can be enough to trigger an alert.
- Solution: Go back into the motion detection settings and lower the sensitivity level. Try a medium setting first. This makes the system require a more significant change in pixels to trigger an event, effectively ignoring minor movements outside your main zones.
- Incorrect Zone Configuration: Double-check your zones. Sometimes there can be a very small, forgotten zone active in an unwanted area, or the default "full screen" zone was not properly disabled before the new, smaller zones were created. It's often best to 'Clear' or 'Delete' all existing zones and draw them again from scratch.
- Line Crossing or Intrusion Detection: Modern Annke systems have more advanced "Smart Events" like Line Crossing and Intrusion Detection. These features often operate independently of the standard motion detection zones. Check if you have one of these smart events enabled with a detection area that is causing the unwanted alerts.
Problem: Not Receiving Any Motion Alerts from Inside the Zones
This is the opposite problem, where an event happens inside your designated zone, but you don't receive a notification.
- Sensitivity is Too Low: Just as high sensitivity causes too many alerts, a setting that is too low can cause the system to miss genuine events. If you have the sensitivity on its lowest setting, a person walking at a distance might not trigger it. Try increasing the sensitivity slightly.
- Zone is Not Active: Ensure the zone is actually enabled. Some interfaces allow you to draw a zone but leave it 'inactive'. Also, check the arming schedule. It's possible that motion detection is scheduled to be disabled during the time the event occurred.
By carefully balancing your zone placement with the correct sensitivity level and ensuring all settings are properly saved, you can make your Annke motion alerts both accurate and reliable.
