Lorex App Not Loading or Crashing? A Simple Fix Guide
When you need to check on your property, the last thing you want is for the Lorex app to be stuck, unresponsive, or crashing. Whether it's the Lorex Home, Cirrus, or another version, app loading issues can prevent you from viewing your cameras, which can be both frustrating and worrying.
The good news is that the cause is usually a minor software glitch with your phone or the app itself, rather than a problem with your camera system. This guide will provide you with simple, effective steps to resolve these loading problems quickly.
Step 1: The Basic Restart
Before diving into more complex solutions, let's start with the basics that solve the problem most of the time.
- Force Close the App: Don't just go back to your phone's home screen. You need to fully close the app.
- On iPhone (X or newer): Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle. Swipe right or left to find the Lorex app, then swipe up on its preview to close it.
- On Android: Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then let go. You'll see your open apps. Swipe up on the Lorex app to close it. (This may vary slightly by model).
- Once closed, try opening the app again.
- Reboot Your Smartphone: If force-closing doesn't work, a full reboot is the next step. Press and hold the power button on your phone and select the option to restart. This clears your phone's temporary memory and can resolve many app-related glitches.
Step 2: Check Your Internet Connection
The Lorex app needs a stable internet connection to load your devices and settings.
- Test Your Connection: Try opening a web browser on your phone to see if you can load a new page.
- Switch Between Wi-Fi and Mobile Data: If you're on Wi-Fi, try turning it off and using your mobile data instead. If you're on mobile data, try connecting to a stable Wi-Fi network. If the app loads on one but not the other, you've identified a problem with that specific network connection.
- Check Your Recorder's Connection: Ensure your Lorex DVR or NVR is powered on and physically connected to your router via an Ethernet cable. A solid green or blue light on the recorder's network port usually indicates a good connection.
Step 3: Clear the App's Cache (Android Only)
Over time, the app's cache can become cluttered or corrupted, which can prevent it from loading properly.
- Go to your phone's Settings.
- Tap on Apps or Application Manager.
- Find and select the Lorex app.
- Tap on Storage.
- You will see an option to Clear Cache. Tap this. Important: Do not tap "Clear Data" at this stage, as this will erase all your settings and you will have to set up your device connections again.
