Winnersh’s crime rate in March 2025 remained markedly lower than the UK average, standing at 3.7 per 1,000 residents—52.6% below the national figure of 7.8 per 1,000. This sustained safety profile, however, masks significant fluctuations in specific categories. Violence and sexual offences dominated the crime profile, accounting for 42.5% of all reported incidents, yet they remained 41% below the UK average. The seasonal shift into spring may have influenced these patterns, as extended daylight hours and warmer weather typically reduce opportunities for certain types of crime. Conversely, vehicle crime saw a dramatic 500% increase from February, a spike that, while still below the UK average (0.4 per 1,000), demands scrutiny. This rise could be attributed to increased vehicle movement during the Easter holiday period or heightened targeting of parked vehicles in residential areas. Anti-social behaviour and public order offences both declined sharply, with the latter falling by 71.4%—a trend consistent with the typical reduction in public gatherings as the weather improves. Despite these variations, the overall crime picture remains one of relative safety, though targeted awareness of vehicle security and community engagement in addressing violent crime could help maintain this positive trajectory.
