Simple Fixes for a Crashing LaView App
When the LaView app crashes, it cuts off the connection to your security cameras, making it impossible to monitor your property. Whether the app is the LaView ONE, LaView Connect, or another version, the reasons it might freeze, stop unexpectedly, or refuse to open are usually straightforward to fix.
Follow these troubleshooting steps in order to get your LaView app running smoothly again on your Android or iOS device.
Step 1: Clear the App Cache
The app's cache is a storage space for temporary files. When these files become corrupt, they are a leading cause of crashes. Clearing the cache is a safe first step as it does not delete your settings or camera configurations.
- Open the Settings app on your smartphone.
- Tap on "Apps" or "Application Manager".
- Scroll down and find your LaView app (e.g., LaView Connect).
- Tap on "Storage".
- Press the "Clear Cache" button.
- Relaunch the app to see if the crashing has stopped.
Step 2: Update the LaView App
Running an outdated version of the app can cause compatibility issues with your phone's operating system, leading to instability. Developers regularly release updates with bug fixes.
- For Android: Open the Google Play Store, search for your LaView app, and tap "Update" if it's available.
- For iOS: Open the App Store, tap your profile icon, and scroll down to see pending updates. Update the LaView app if it appears on the list.
Step 3: Check Your Phone's Resources
The problem may not be with the app itself, but with your device's ability to run it.
- Storage Space: If your phone's internal storage is almost full, it can cause apps to become unstable. Try deleting old files, photos, or unused apps to free up space.
- Available Memory (RAM): Having too many apps open simultaneously can exhaust your phone's available RAM. Close all other apps running in the background before opening the LaView app.
- Restart Your Phone: A simple reboot can clear up memory and resolve temporary software conflicts that might be causing the app to crash.
Step 4: Verify You Are Using the Correct App
Over the years, LaView has released different camera models that work with different apps. Using the wrong one can cause unexpected behaviour.
- Check the original user manual or packaging that came with your camera to confirm the correct app name (e.g., LaView ONE, LaView Connect).
- If you have multiple LaView apps installed, try removing the one you don't need to avoid conflicts.
Step 5: Perform a Clean Reinstallation
If none of the previous steps have worked, reinstalling the app will provide a completely fresh start, clearing out any deep-seated software issues.
- Uninstall the LaView app from your phone. You can do this by long-pressing the app icon and selecting "Uninstall" or by going through the "Apps" menu in your phone's settings.
- Restart your smartphone. This is a crucial step to ensure all residual files are cleared.
- Go back to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and download a fresh copy of the app.
- You will need to log in with your account credentials again.
