Website Terms of Service

Terms for using scos.co.uk and our online store

Last updated: 9 October 2026

These Website Terms of Service (Terms) are the terms on which you may use the website at scos.co.uk (including any subdomain we operate) and our online store and configurator on that website (together, the Website).

They are issued by Smart City Operating System Limited (scOS, we, us, our), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 13569571.

  • Registered office: 71 Manor Road, Caddington, Luton, LU1 4EE.
  • Correspondence address: 4th Floor, Silverstream House, 45 Fitzroy Street, London W1T 6EB.
  • Contact: Contact Us.

1. What these Terms cover, and what they do not

These Terms cover only your use of the Website: browsing, reading our content, using the store or configurator, creating a website account, and placing an order through the Website.

These Terms do not govern the Home Intelligence Service, the Business Intelligence Service, the loaned Intelligence Hub, or any subscription, installation, monitoring, alerting or hardware-loan relationship.

How to cancel a Home subscription and how to return a Hub are set out in the Cancellation & Hub Returns policy at scos.co.uk/refund and in the Home Intelligence Service Agreement.

How we handle personal data is set out in the notices listed at scos.co.uk/privacy-policies:

If there is any conflict between these Terms and a Service Agreement about that Service (including price, cancellation, the Hub, liability, or changes to the Service), the Service Agreement prevails. These Terms do not form an "entire agreement" for either Service and do not supersede the Service Agreements, the Cancellation & Hub Returns policy, or our privacy notices.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

2. Who may use the Website

You must be 18 or over and capable of entering into a binding contract to place an order or create an account.

You may browse the Website if you are younger, but you must not place an order, create an account, or submit personal information about yourself.

You must use the Website lawfully. You may use it for personal or household purposes, to order the Business Intelligence Service for your business, or for a genuine enquiry.

3. The Website and the store

The Website describes the Intelligence Services and lets you configure a camera-count tier and place an order. An order for the Home Intelligence Service is an offer by you to enter into the Home Intelligence Service Agreement on the terms shown at checkout. We accept that offer when we send you a confirmation on a durable medium (normally email). Until then we may decline an order, for example if we cannot serve your address, the information is incomplete, or the order appears to be placed by a dealer or reseller.

You are not buying the Intelligence Hub. The Hub is owned by scOS and supplied on loan under the relevant Service Agreement. No part of a monthly subscription fee is a purchase price for the Hub.

We are not VAT registered. Prices on the Website are not subject to VAT, and we do not add VAT. If we later become VAT registered, we will tell you before any VAT is added to a Service you already have, and you may cancel that Service before the change takes effect under its Service Agreement.

We try to keep descriptions, images, illustrations, demos and configurator information accurate. Images, illustrations and demos show the Service. They are not a promise that every property will look or behave exactly as the demo. Camera-compatibility guidance is general. The Service Agreement, and the compatibility information we give you before you are bound, are the terms that matter for the Service.

We may correct an obvious pricing or description error before we accept an order, and we will not bind you to a price that is an obvious mistake.

We may change, suspend or withdraw Website content, the store or the configurator. Doing so does not, by itself, change an accepted Service Agreement.

4. Accounts, orders and payment on the Website

The email address you use at checkout is used to create your Home or Business Intelligence Service account. You can change that email address in CaelusView after purchase.

If you create a Website or checkout account you must give accurate information and keep your login details confidential. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account.

Payment for the Home Intelligence Service is by Direct Debit through our payment provider, GoCardless, on the terms of the Home Intelligence Service Agreement. We do not store your full bank details on our own systems. You are not billed for that subscription until the Hub is enrolled on your account.

You can ask us about an order via Contact Us.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Website for any unlawful purpose, or to encourage anyone else to break the law;
  • try to gain unauthorised access to the Website, our systems, anyone else's account, or any Intelligence Hub;
  • introduce malware, or attack or overload the Website;
  • scrape, harvest or index the Website in a way that impairs it or is contrary to our robots.txt, except ordinary search-engine indexing;
  • copy, sell or exploit the Website or its content for a commercial purpose without our written permission;
  • submit false, misleading or unlawful content, or impersonate another person;
  • harass, abuse or unlawfully discriminate against any person through the Website; or
  • use the Website to infringe anyone's intellectual-property or privacy rights.

We may suspend or block Website access if we reasonably believe you have seriously breached this clause. We do not terminate an Intelligence Service subscription under these Terms. Suspension or ending of a Service is governed only by the relevant Service Agreement.

6. Intellectual property

We (or our licensors) own the Website, its design, text, graphics, logos, software and other content. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to view the Website for the purposes in clause 1. You must not copy, modify, distribute, scrape for republication, reverse-engineer or commercially exploit Website content except as the law allows despite this restriction (including fair-dealing exceptions).

The scOS name and the scOS logo are registered UK trade marks of Smart City Operating System Limited (UK00004179229). CaelusView is an unregistered trade mark we use for our portal. You must not use them without our written permission, except to refer accurately to us. None of those names is a separate legal person.

If you send us comments, ideas or feedback, you confirm they are yours to send. We may use them to improve the Website or the Services without paying you. We will not treat ordinary feedback as confidential. This does not give us any extra rights in your personal data. That is governed by the privacy notices.

7. Third-party sites and tools

The Website may link to third-party sites or offer optional third-party tools (for example a payment page or a map). Those sites and tools have their own terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for them, except to the extent we fail to use reasonable care and skill in choosing or presenting them, or the law says otherwise.

8. Our responsibility for the Website

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. In particular we do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for any right you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that cannot be excluded, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under the law of England and Wales.

We will use reasonable care and skill in providing the Website. We do not promise that the Website will be uninterrupted, error-free or available at any particular time. Planned or emergency maintenance may take the Website down.

If you use the Website as a consumer, we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these Terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable, or for business losses if you use the Website for business.

You do not indemnify us under these Terms. If you misuse the Website in a way that causes us loss, we may recover that loss from you to the extent the law allows, but these Terms do not contain a consumer indemnity.

Liability for an Intelligence Service, the Hub and any subscription is only as set out in the relevant Service Agreement.

9. How these Terms change

We may update these Terms by posting a new version on this page and changing the "Last updated" date. The new version applies to your later use of the Website.

A change to these Terms does not change an existing Service Agreement. Changes to a Service, its price or its Service Agreement are made only under that Service Agreement.

10. Other legal terms

If we do not enforce a right, we do not waive it. If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest continues.

You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours if your rights are not adversely affected.

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live, and any mandatory consumer-protection rules of that place still apply.
